Puerto Princessa, Palawan | Philippines | Day 1-3

When it comes to blogging my adventures, I am horrible. I disabled my blog on my site since I was not consistent enough with my posts. Now, I am back! I finally got a chance to really work on my photos from my trip to the Philippines.

The last time I was in the Philippines was about 10 years ago. This trip came as a blessing. I was not able to go back since due to work. I was a retail manager and I could never get time off during the holidays, since that is one of the busiest times of the year for retail. Now that I freelance, I had the opportunity to go for 2 weeks and I could not say no.

Day 1 & 2 | 12.25-26.17 | My brother (Kuya) and I flew on Christmas Day, which was lovely. The airport was not as busy as it would have been if we flew on Christmas Eve. Since it takes over 24hrs including layovers to travel to the Philippines, we didn't arrive until the 26th. Surprisingly, traveling there was not too bad. I didn't feel the effects of jet lag as badly. I could also thank my bad sleeping habits for that... Woohoo!

Once we arrive, I was hit with news that the following morning, my family and I would be traveling to Palawan. It's around 11:30pm...

Side note: I didn't really know what our plans would be once we got to the Philippines. Everyday was a surprise.

Day 2 | 12.26.17 | Around 7:30am, we head out to the airport. We arrive early, and as our flight time approaches, we are told that there is a delay. Not surprising, I looked up the weather in Palawan, and there was a storm in the area.  2-3hrs later, we finally board but not before we finished our FREE Jolibee meal that the airline provided for the inconvenience. Bless them!

Once we arrive, it started to rain a little and then it stopped. It's as if Mother Nature knew we were on vacation. Thankful!

First stop, Crocodile Farm. Halfway through the tour it started to rain again. I definitely spoke too soon about the rain.

Afterwards, it was off to Baker's Hill, where they are known for their hopia, which is a Filipino pastry that is filled with bean paste & assorted flavors.

After a long day, we headed back to our hotel. Of course, my dad wanted to go out at night for a bit, so we went out and grabbed dinner at Chow King. Fast food for a quick trip out. Haha.

LA - DAY 3

// JUNE 30, 2017

We started the day meeting up with friends in Little Tokyo then headed to Downtown LA to explore the area. I always wanted to visit the Walt Disney Concert Hall because I love the unique architecture. It has a very organic structure, which stands out among the geometric architecture that surrounds the building. While there, the boyfriend and I ended up doing a mini photoshoot.

Of course, the boyfriend wanted to take some pictures of me, and anyone that knows me knows I prefer being behind the camera than in front of it. So enjoy the silly pictures. I could not resist myself.

After exploring the Walt Disney Concert Hall, we were pretty famished, so we went to the one place the boyfriend wanted to go to for awhile, since we did not get a chance to go in NYC. BAOHAUS! We went there to hold us over until later for Korean BBQ with friends.

The buns from left to right: Birdhaus Bao, Chairman Bao, and Fried Fish Bao. All there were pretty good but our favorite was the Chairman. We also got some free stickers and buttons for Eddie Huang's show, Huang's World. I've seen a few episodes are it is pretty good. Very raw and Eddie is quite hilarious. Love it!

Afterwards, we grabbed some food at 8 Korean BBQ with my friend Jenny, who is in California for an internship, and her boyfriend. We ordered the Pork Plate, which gives you 8 different flavors of their samgyeopsal, which are slices of pork belly. This is probably the first time I have been to a Korean BBQ restaurant where you pay per table vs per person. For the price and the amount we got, I would say it was well worth it.

We ended our night getting bubble tea at Snow Monster because I heard you can get bubble tea in a light bulb at that location. A novelty item, yes, but I wanted to enjoy the experience and I was super excited to get one.

LA - DAY 2

Day 2 of LA was spent at the Museum of Ice Cream. I was able to snag two tickets when the museum extended their stay. Thank god I followed their Instagram account so I would know the time and day I would have to purchase them!

The museum was a lot of fun! This pop-up museum definitely holds up to the hype that I have seen online. As well as being an Instagram heaven location!

The mint room was quite refreshing. We were given a slice of a mint mochi ice cream (drool). The mint on the right side were all sweet mint, which smelled the best. The mints on the left side had different types, which I already forgot :X. The fun thing about the planted mints is that they used cacao shells to top off the soil. So if you smell the soil, it will have a hint of chocolate. Mint chocolate. So clever!

We ended our day stopping by the LA Convention Center to pick up my Anime Expo badge, then headed to Little Tokyo to do a little bit of exploring. We found ourselves eating ramen at this pretty good place, Hakata Ikkousha

I had the Tonkontsu Standard and the boyfriend had the Tonkontsu Black. The bowl on the left is their Cha-shu Don, which is a pork rice bowl. So simple but so flavorful.

LA - DAY 1

I had the opportunity to fly out to LA to go to Anime Expo with the boyfriend, as well as, meeting up with other friends that will be there. We flew out three days before the Con started to give us some time to explore the LA area a bit since I have never been.

After 10+ hours of traveling, we FINALLY made it to LA! The boyfriend and I grabbed our rental car, which was not what we originally reserved but got a better car instead because of the lady at the counter. Big ups for the Hertz lady! [ I forgot her name :X Sorry! We grabbed some lunch at Del Taco then off to our friend Isaac's place. The boyfriend and I relaxed for a while then headed off to explore LA for a bit.

We stayed in North Hollywood, so we grabbed some bubble tea at Tea Pop, which had some pretty good bubble tea. I had the Almonilla and it was amazing! Caution, it is sweet but you can always adjust the sugar level. The place has a really cute outdoor lounge area. It is definitely a place to stop by. Afterwards, we checked out the Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio and Millenium Dance Complex. Drove to the Griffith Observatory to see if we can get a better view of the Hollywood sign but it was SUPER packed and difficult to find parking. We just drove up then drove down. Thankfully, we were able to see the Hollywood sign... from a distance... from our car. WORTH IT! Haha.
